Full potential is realized thanks to the world’s first and only 8-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). Initially developed for race cars, this 8-Speed DCT changes gears via clutches, similar to a manual transmission which allows for faster, smoother, and more efficient gear shifting.
In conjunction with ABS, the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system uses a multitude of sensors positioned throughout the ILX to reduce the risk of under and over steering during wet conditions. If oversteer or understeer is detected, the VSA system will apply brakes to each wheel as needed to help regain traction and stabilize the vehicle.
The ILX is changing what it means to be a car in the compact sport sedan category. Featuring a 2.4-liter, i-VTEC engine, the ILX refuses to trade efficiency for power, producing 201 hp while still achieving an impressive 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.**
Many factors contribute to a smooth, comfortable ride. The ILX employs 4-wheel Independent MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link arrangement in the back for precise handling. Amplitude reactive dampers are included for good measure.
The rack-and-pinion of the ILX has been fine-tuned to create a linear transition between higher and lower speeds, while the steering assembly sports a rigid mount in order to reduce vibration. Further evolving, the ILX has opted for a more efficient electronic power assist, as opposed to hydraulic which relies on mechanical power from the engine.
Available with the 2017 ILX A-Spec Package, these race-inspired aluminum pedals nurture performance with a shape and texture that keep your foot centered on the pedal for maximum response time. Not only that, but they take the term “sport sedan” to a whole new level.
Never has a driver held this many vehicle functions in the palm of their hand. Without taking the key fob out of your pocket, you may turn on/off the engine and auxiliary controls, lower the windows and open the moonroof, unlatch the trunk, and utilize smart entry–unlocking the door only after you touch the handle.
The cornerstone to every Acura vehicle is the Jewel Eye LED headlights. Both refined and functional, this signature light profile is unlike any other luxury car on the market. The diamond-like LEDs not only use less energy than traditional headlights, but they also generate a brighter beam for enhanced safety.
All 2017 Acura ILX models are standard equipped with a multi-view rear camera. Monitor your surroundings on a 5-inch crystal clear display, complete with yellow guidelines for increased accuracy. Choose from three dynamic angles, including a regular view for backing up, a top-down view for parallel parking, and a wide angle view to check for oncoming vehicles and pedestrians behind you.
Perhaps one of the most notable features inside the ILX cabin is active sound control. This technology cancels engine and wind noise by producing a reverse sound through the car’s audio system. As RPMs increase, active sound control jumps into action to create a constant state of quiet.
The driver and front passenger will both, undoubtedly appreciate the GPS-linked automatic climate control, which utilizes a solar sensor to detect the sun’s position and intensity, automatically adjusting controls to the perfect temperature.
Acura enlisted the help of Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner when designing the ELS Studio Premium Audio System. Included with the 2017 ILX Technology Plus Package, this 10-speaker audio system replicates studio quality sound using six isolated channels of audio source material from the center, left front, right front, left rear, right rear, and subwoofer.
Distracted driving is one of the most serious problems on our roads today, but thanks to steering wheel-mounted controls, you can keep your hands on the wheel where they belong. With the press of a button, drivers have the ability to receive/place phone calls, manage the cruise control, adjust audio volume, and change songs or stations.
Gone are the days of an overcrowded dashboard that is littered with unnecessary knobs, buttons, and levers. Acura has centralized all audio and climate controls into a 7-inch, full-color touchscreen known as the On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD). Create shortcuts to manage your music, smartphone functionality, and security settings.
Apple iPhone users are sure to love the Siri Eyes Free feature on the 2017 ILX, which allows drivers to access their smartphone without ever having to take their hands off the steering wheel. Perform tasks such as sending and receiving text messages, scheduling calendar appointments, checking the weather, and finding out sports scores and stock quotes–all via Siri voice commands.
Your seat belt is the easiest and most effective way to protect yourself in the event of an accident. No matter where you find yourself seated within the ILX, all five seating positions are equipped with 3-point safety belts and head restraints. For added protection, the front seats feature a load-limiting tensioner system that secure occupants upon milliseconds of a significant impact.
Standard cruise control is great while driving on the open road, but during light to heavy traffic, having to make constant adjustments can be cumbersome and distracting. With Acura’s Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), not only can you set your desired speed, but you can also set the distance between your ILX and the detected vehicle in front of you.
One of Acura’s most intuitive accident prevention features is the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) which employs a radar transmitter and forward-facing camera to detect obstacles ahead of you. If/when a potential accident is identified, the CMBS will beep and flash a message to alert you. If no action is taken, CMBS will apply light braking.
Intelligent engineering is front and center when it comes to Acura’s ACE body structure. Designed to increase occupant protection during a front-end collision, ACE distributes the impact of a crash more evenly throughout the vehicle. The 2017 ILX features a new generation of ACE that utilizes extra braces on the front corners to further absorb and distribute crash energy in the event of a collision that occurs on only one side of the front end.
Not designed to completely steer the vehicle; rather, the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) works proactively to prevent any unintended lane changes. With the help of a forward-facing camera mounted on the rearview mirror of the ILX, the LKAS will provide audible and visual notifications if you begin changing lanes without a turn signal. If no action is taken, the system will gradually guide the steering wheel back into place.
Acura’s Blind spot information (BSI) System is an unobtrusive piece of technology that notifies you when the “alert zone” or blind spot is occupied. If you switch on the turn signal in the direction of a detected vehicle, an indicator will flash on the corresponding side mirror and a beep will sound.
