2017 RLX

It won’t take long for Colorado drivers to recognize why the 2017 Acura RLX is such a popular choice within the luxury sedan category. Some people will be impressed by the spacious interior and class-leading rear legroom. Others will gravitate toward the premium performance of 310 horsepower. Most will enjoy the wealth of standard tech features and amenities. But all Coloradans will applaud the RLX’s earnest commitment to safety, garnering praise on an annual basis from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Sophisticated sport

The RLX is a powerful performer no matter what criteria is used to measure it. For the 2017 model year, Acura is giving drivers two dynamic options to choose from. The standard RLX comes equipped with front-wheel drive and a strapping 3.5-liter, V6 engine that produces 310 hp and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. The RLX Sport Hybrid features SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) and carries three electric motors that work in unison with the same V6 engine to generate 377 hp and 341 lb.-ft. of torque. Although both models are highly efficient, in-town drivers will appreciate the RLX Sport Hybrid’s 29 city mpg.**

  • V6 Engine

    3.5L V6 Engine

The power plant behind the 2017 RLX is a 3.5-liter, aluminum-alloy direct injection V6. It features Direct Gas Injection, Variable Cylinder Management, and the Acura i-VTEC system. Simply put, this engine generates a heart-pounding 310 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque while still managing an EPA-estimated 30 mpg on the highway.**

  • Sport Hybrid

    Sport Hybrid

If you crave performance, the 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the luxury sedan for you. Efficient in every sense of the word, not only does this hybrid achieve an EPA-estimated 29 city/highway combined mpg,** it also produces an astounding 377 horsepower. Thanks to three electric motors and a direct-injection V6 engine, the RLX Sport Hybrid is Acura’s most advanced performance sedan ever.

  • 6 Speed Sequential SportShift Automatic

    SportShift Paddles

The 2017 RLX lets you have your cake and eat it too, courtesy of Sequential SportShift paddle shifters, combining the ease of an automatic with the interaction of a manual. Select “Drive” mode for better fuel efficiency and seamless gear shifting or the “Sport” setting for full manual control.

  • Agile Handling Assist

    Agile Handling Assist

In conjunction with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system and Precision All-Wheel Steer, Agile Handling Assist helps you maneuver more precisely through sharp corners and curves with active breaking (generally on an inside wheel) and smaller steering inputs.

  • Aerodynamics

To ensure a body design that was visually appealing yet perfectly streamlined for maximum performance, the 2017 RLX made over 800 trips through the wind tunnel before it hit showroom floors. The result? One of the most aerodynamic cars in the luxury sedan segment.

  • Precision All Wheel Steer

    Precision All-Wheel Steer

Unlike traditional drivelines, Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) adjusts the toe angle of each rear wheel depending on the movement of the front wheels. P-AWS optimizes highway stability, helps reduce your turning radius, and decreases the necessary stopping distance.

Smart style

If an automobile could be dressed to the nines, or better yet designed to the nines, it would look like the 2017 RLX. Never one to follow the trends, Acura paid close attention to every last detail to make this luxury sedan a true one-of-a-kind. Form meets function with elegant contours that not only catch your eye, but they’re also aerodynamic to increase the RLX’s overall performance. The bolder, brighter Jewel Eye LED headlights are the centerpiece of this handsome sedan, making safety look stylish.

  • Keyless Entry

    Keyless Access System

Acura has given some big functionality to their small key remote. Once the doors have been unlocked and you’ve made contact with the driver’s side door handle, nearly every programmable comfort feature will adjust to its predetermined setting, including your seat memory, side mirror, audio controls, and the temperature of the cabin.

  • Surround View Camera

    Surround View Camera

Sometimes another set of eyes would be helpful when parallel parking or backing out onto a busy intersection, don’t you think? The 2017 RLX is equipped with four different cameras to provide a 360 degree view of the world around you. Changing the camera angle on your display screen is as easy as pressing a button. For increased accuracy, utilize the guidelines feature.

  • Capless Fuel Tank

    Capless Fuel Door

A capless fuel door may not sound like much…unless you enjoy the smell of gasoline that sometimes ends up on your hands? Or better yet, if you’ve ever left your fuel cap at the gas station and had to purchase a replacement? The RLX has evolved in so many different ways, and the capless fuel door is just another useful advancement.

Preferential treatment

Happy to disrupt the status quo, the 2017 Acura RLX is a playground of advanced technology with standard features that most luxury automakers would consider upgrades. In addition to high-end materials and groundbreaking driver assistive technologies, the RLX is loaded with amenities such as a power moonroof, rearview camera, heated front seats, and active sound control–resulting in one of the most quiet cabins in its class.

  • Leather Seats

    High-End Materials

High tech features can be seen throughout the 2017 RLX, but it’s Acura’s use of high-end materials that take comfort to a whole new level. Refinement extends to every inch of the interior, from the Perforated Milano leather seats and contrast stitching to a plush leather dashboard and brushed aluminum speakers.

  • Rear Legroom

    Class-Leading Rear Legroom

The RLX truly offers a first-class passenger experience. With more interior space than some full-size sedans, the 2017 RLX boasts a substantial 38.8 inches of rear legroom, all without sacrificing the amount of available trunk storage. While stretching their legs, backseat occupants are sure to enjoy their own climate zone with individual center console controls.

  • Audio System

    Advanced Audio Systems

A far cry from other traditional audio systems, the 2017 RLX provides car audio aficionados with two separate but equally amazing options. Whether you choose the standard-setting Krell Audio System or the exclusive ELS Studio Premium Audio System, you can’t make a wrong decision. Both systems feature a 14-speaker configuration that will change the way you listen to (and hear) your music.

  • On Demand Multi Use Display

    On Demand Multi-Use Display

Convenience is king when it comes to the crystal clear, 7-inch On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD). Audio settings, climate control, and programmable shortcuts all come together in one intuitive touchscreen interface, reducing what should be over 30 different buttons down to just nine!

  • Active Sound Control

    Active Sound Control

In addition to acoustic glass and noise-reducing wheels, the 2017 RLX features active sound control for a welcome serenity inside the cabin. Active sound control technology emits reverse frequencies which counteract any unwanted engine or road noise, keeping the outside world where it belongs: outside of the vehicle.

  • Head Up Display

    Head-Up Display

With the implementation of features like steering wheel-mounted controls and voice recognition technology, Acura remains on the frontline in the battle against distracted driving. Automotive safety has taken another step forward thanks to the 2017 RLX Sport Hybrid and its Head-Up Display feature which projects vehicle speed, driver-assistance notifications, navigation instructions, and more directly onto the windshield (all in real time).

Situational awareness

Expecting more from your luxury sedan is perfectly reasonable. In fact, Acura has adopted this philosophy and added AcuraWatch to every 2017 RLX model. An intuitive suite of driver assistance technologies, AcuraWatch includes various safety features to help identify your surroundings, increase your response time, and improve your overall safety. It’s this type of intelligent engineering that has earned the 2017 RLX 5-star ratings across the board from the NHTSA during front, front passenger, front side, rear side, and rollover crash tests.

  • Collision Mitigation Braking

    Collision Mitigation Braking System

As much as we try to remain focused in our daily lives, inevitably, distractions will rear their ugly head from time to time. That’s where Acura’s Collision Mitigation Braking System steps in. Courtesy of a radar transmitter mounted on the RLX’s front grille, the CMBS reduces the probability of a frontal crash by detecting potential obstacles ahead of you. The system will attempt to notify you via audible and visual alerts. If no action is taken, CMBS will begin to apply the brakes, as needed.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control

    Adaptive Cruise Control

Cruise control is a beautiful thing on long road trips. But would if you were able to use cruise control during instances of light traffic without having to readjust your settings? Acura’s Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow system automatically adapts to the speed of the surrounding vehicles. In addition to your normal cruise control, simply program a short, medium, or long interval and the ACC will maintain your predetermined distance.

  • Lane keeping Assist

    Lane Keeping Assist System

The phrase “staying centered” doesn’t just apply to yoga enthusiasts anymore. Acura’s Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) is designed to do just that: keep you centered…on the road, that is. Attached to the rearview mirror is a front-facing camera that works to keep you in the middle of your lane. If the RLX begins to switch lanes without the use of a turn signal, the LKAS will administer a slight tug on the steering wheel to get you back on the straight and narrow.

  • Road Departure Mitigation

    Road Departure Mitigation System

Behind the wheel, as your mind sometimes wanders, so goes your vehicle. Acura’s Road Departure Mitigation System utilizes a monocular camera to detect lane lines. If the RLX begins to drift across road markings, the system will first, provide audible and visual alerts, followed by steering and braking assistance (only if necessary).

  • Vehicle Stability Assist

    Vehicle Stability Assist

Everyone would welcome some extra peace of mind while driving in less-than-favorable weather conditions. If the RLX begins to lose traction, the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system will automatically apply brakes to each wheel individually (as needed) until the vehicle stabilizes. Prepare to meet wet surfaces and rough terrain head-on with a renewed confidence.

  • Blind Spot Information

    Blind Spot Information System

AcuraWatch fosters a sense of consciousness behind the wheel, and another contributing factor to this heightened awareness is the Blind Spot Information (BSI) System. If the BSI System detects a vehicle in the neighboring lane that you are attempting to enter, both audible and visual notifications will alert you. Acura is changing the way we change lanes.
